Details on The President’s Globe

There have been several good articles written about “The President’s Globe” made during WWII for President Roosevelt, including Arthur Robinson’s 1997 article in Imago Mundi, Ryan Moore’s blog post, and my own article on FDR and geography in The Portolan.

However, most of the articles have discussed the history of the globe or provided photos of Roosevelt studying the globe. I haven’t seen much discussion about the details or style used in the globe itself. It would be a worthy project. In the meantime, just a couple of close-up photos of the globe displayed in the G&M Division at the Library of Congress.
